A few weeks ago I uploaded some photos onto Newschoolers.com that ended up being their “Photo of the Day” for three out of four days — not a bad streak!
The first POTD on August 5 was this shot of Mike Briggs from a snow camping trip to Mississippi Head, a huge cliff on the west side of the mountain. We traversed west from Palmer to a snow feature on top of the cliff that I had scoped out a few days earlier, and built a hip jump and a nice little campsite complete with a sheltered fire pit.
I had hoped to capture some amazing sunset shots but unfortunately our jump location didn’t allow me to frame up the incredible sunset taking place to the west. Still, we had a great time on the jump and Briggs nailed some sick tricks including a nasty cork 9. This flat 3 was for the camera at the end of the session, and it turned out be a great shot.
The next POTD was this one on August 7. I’d been wanting to shoot stills of my roommate Andy’s weird rail tricks for a while, and this turned out to be the day. We liked this shot so much that we decided to just share it online immediately, and the response to it was great.
The next day, this shot of Christ C-“Bo” Bolduc from the Mississippi Head trip was chosen as the Photo of the Day. What a week, thanks Newschoolers for getting stoked on my shots!
